Your Excellency sir, i greet you in the name of our Lord and salute your courage in steering the leadership of this great nation at a gravely Challenging moment. The main purpose of my letter to you sir is to intimate you about some of the challenges facing we the masses.I know that you are aware of most of these problems, and i also know that you really do not know the extent to which people are really feeling hurt about these problems that seems to have no solution in the faces of many. As a student of politics, i understand that leadership position is not easy to occupy and also that one of the hardest tasks a leader faces is to keep the time scale of his decisions always in mind. This is because he is not only responsible to an electorate, but the repercussion of what he does or that he fails to do will have serious negative and positive Impacts on the lives of his people.Your excellency sir, i appreciate your perception of Nigeria as a continuing entity and also must commend your unrelenting efforts in combating the cancerous corruption which has taken over our entire political system. But sir, as our President, there is need for you to always try to see how your decisions will affect today's citizens irrespective of tribe or religion and their future generations. On this basis if the policies of your government did not follow this futuristic direction, the whole gamut of your administration's programmes may need serious revision.
Your Excellency sir, as you have declare a total war against corruption, insurgency and also position our country among the committee of nations, there is another important factor which your government must declare war against. This is the menace of poverty which is highly prevalent and noticeable even to the youngest person in this nation. Your government must formally declare an unconditional war against poverty and from your countenance, your objective must be total victory. Just like any other Nigerian, i know what poverty means to the people, because i have been unemployed and under-employed. I have stood in an employment office, writing several employment examinations and i have also done all kind of shoddy jobs which does not comform with my level of academic qualification. Apart from my own personal experience with harsh realities in our nation i have also seen what most Nigerians are going through on daily basis, without an actual hope of when all this will be over. While the intellectuals understand all your efforts that they will pay in a long-run, an average Nigerian cannot understand that. This is because, it is very difficult to orientate an hungry man about a policy of government that will pay on a long run. Your excellency sir, formal declaration of war against poverty is very important because, this is the problem of an average Nigerian and it has a very bad implication for their freedom and dignity as an individual and group. Our people need freedom and hope in their lives. An hungry man with no hope of food and shelter is indeed a slave and you and me understand very well sir that slavery condition is not suitable to Humans. In addressing this problem sir,i want you to take note that stomach infrastructural program is not what people want, but a social services package that is genuine and sustainable.
In conclusion sir, i want you to take your time sir, to ponder on this letter and understand its subject within the contest of the reality of poverty in this country and it is expected sir that this should have significant effect on the nature of policies that your administration will utilise in running the affairs of our nation. In this very dangerous times sir, capitalists oriented policies will definitely do us more harms than good and this will further raise series of protests with ethnic and religious orientation.
Thank you very much sir for reading this piece and i am hopeful that you will heed the cry of helpless Nigerians at all time by coming to their aid to give them hope.
Yours Faithfully,
De Exponent
